Graduated at Treasure Island, California, after twelve intensive months of
electronics training as Electronic Technician 2c Petty Officer on VJ Day.
Assigned to USS Sicily (CVE-118) aircraft carrier escort in Portland,OR, as a “Plank
Owner” on original shake-down cruise.
Transferred to Bainbridge, MD, for honorable discharge in June 1946.
Used GI Bill to earn my BS degree in Electrical Engineering at Kansas State
University in Manhattan, KS, graduating in May of 1950.
Major jobs at Westinghouse Electric Corp and finally retiring as Marketing
Manager from IBM Federal Systems Division. (Total career in sales of
Top Secret military weapon systems and defense
products.).
My working locations during my career after college (1950): Los Altos, CA; Dayton, OH (twice); Washington, DC; (three times). That’s a flock of moves from coast- to-coast over the years.
