DAVID EMERSON FORTUNE, SR.
HIGHLAND SPRINGS RESIDENT, MARINES BY JEAN FORTUNE, WIDOW
Dave joined the Marine Corps having an admiration for a Marine friend. That was 1960, after playing basketball on a scholarship at Odessa College. We met in June of 1963. We married in 1964 and had two children, David Jr. and Holly.
Dave spoke often of his Marine Corps DI, Sgt. Redwine, platoon runs, bayonet drills and "snapping in". His faith was a driving force in his life. Responding to God's call resulted in his attending Dallas Theological Seminary. Dave formed a non-profit, Compass Ministries, and became a "pastor at large" in the Dallas business community. His impact was significant.
We moved to Highland Springs in December 2018. His family & extended family were very proud of him. He went to be with his Lord June 28, 2020. He inspired all of us to walk with our God, love people, make good decisions and serve others.
