ROBERT ALLEE
HIGHLAND SPRINGS RESIDENT, NAVY
Captain Robert Allee (U.S. Navy, retired; U.S. Maritime Service, retired) had a fifty-year career serving in the United States Navy and Merchant Marine.
His significant assignments in the Navy included command of the USS DECATUR (DDG-31), USS TRIPPE (FF-1075) and Preposition Ships Squadron TWO. Shore assignments included the Atlantic Command Staff and Chief of Naval Operation staff.
Captain Alleeās service time included the Vietnam War, the Cold War, the Gulf War, and he commanded the sealift forces during the Operation Restore Hope in Somalia. He is a specialist in Surface Warfare, Command and Control, Anti- Submarine Warfare, and Logistics.
Significant Merchant Marine assignments included command of the Merchant Marine Academy training ship TV KINGS POINTER, and Commandant of Midshipmen at the US Merchant Marine Academy. He holds a Merchant Marine license as Master of vessels of any gross upon any ocean.
Captain Allee is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY and the Naval Postgraduate School at Monterrey, CA.
His personal awards include two Legions of Merit, the Merchant Marine Distinguished Service Medal, the Merchant Marine Superior Service Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal as well as numerous other service and campaign awards.
